TEN WAYS CONGREGATIONS CAN HELP

Matthew 25 like many other non-profit organizations is facing shrinking support from private as well as public funding sources. Many of our supporters have stuck with us since we opened our doors in 1986. We need many more "friends" who are committed to helping the homeless become self-sufficient. Here are ten things your congregation can do to help us:

  1. Encourage your members to make a personal commitment to helping reduce homelessness in  Davidson County

  2. Encourage your members to designate United Way and/or Federal contributions to MATTHEW 25.

  3. Encourage your members to use their company's matched giving program.
Encourage your members to conduct a fundraising project, donating proceeds to MATTHEW 25.

  4. Encourage your members to participate in the preparation of a pot luck meal for the residents of Matthew 25, one Sunday each month.

  5. Encourage your outreach committee to allow the staff of Matthew 25 to put on a display or presentation for members of your congregation.

  6. Encourage your members to donate useable clothes, old magazines, used books, etc. to the residents of Matthew 25.

  7. Sponsor an Activity Day for the residents of Matthew 25. Get someone to drive a van to take our men to some sporting event, a movie, bowling, etc.

  8. Encourage your members to prepare a Starter Pack for new residents consisting of 1 towel, 1 face cloth, shaving cream, a pack of disposable razors, a bottle of after shave, and deodorant.

  9. Encourage your men to participate in the Matthew 25 Mentor Program, where they help resident to become productive citizens by acting as a role models, encouragers, and guides.
